George Cambron is a first generation Angelino of Mexican descent. George is a self-taught artist who began his artistic endeavor ten years ago. He left his Mortgage banking job of 11 years to pursue his dream and immerse himself fully in his art. George’s strong admiration of the Renaissance period, his own spiritual philosophy, and the ethnic and social melting pot that is Los Angeles, were some of the driving forces that helped George hone his artistic abilities to produce paintings of various contexts, styles, and tecniques.
Aside of being an artist, George is a certified Interior Designer and has assisted with Diseno LLC in Silverlake for the last five years. In his work as a designer, he has been commissioned to produce art pieces and murals and has also donated some works to charitable causes, such as the Aids Healthcare Foundation and HOLA. He has also experimented with faux finishes and collaborated with other artists on numerous set design projects and communal art shows.
Whether his subjects are figurative or abstract, George’s play with light and shadow and creates an illusive space with depth that leaves an open pathway for one to re-orient themselves into a new perspective of self-assessment and growth. His paintings are mostly autobiographical and create an optical language that transcends grace and rhythm with surrealistic undertones. His art ultimately germinates larger questions about present social life and forces the viewer to analyze one’s own growth.
